Looking ahead to the Washington Fly-In

I trust all who attended Leadership Conference last month enjoyed their time in Orlando. It was a pleasure for AED to host aspiring and current industry leaders at this event. We hope this conference’s selection of accomplished speakers from all backgrounds proved to be informative and applicable to your own experiences.

We still have plenty of events to look forward to in the coming months! We will be back in Orlando in January for 2022 Summit before we know it, but in the meantime, the next event on our calendar is Washington Fly-In on October 25-27.

The Washington Fly-In is one of the most important AED events you can attend. Not only will you gain valuable insights about what is (or is not) happening in the world of politics and policy, but you can directly engage in the legislative process. There’s no more powerful voice than that of employers and those creating economic activity in communities across the country.

Currently, in Washington there are enormous opportunities, but also significant threats to your company. The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act, with more than $1 trillion in funding for road, bridge, airport, water, port, broadband and other projects, is expected to be sent to the president’s desk by the end of September (although that timeline could change). However, this fall, the Biden administration and the majority in the House and Senate will also be pursuing initiatives that raise taxes on the business community, increase your regulatory burden, rewrite labor laws in favor of unions and stifle energy development and pipeline construction.

AED continues to educate lawmakers and the administration about the detrimental impact of misguided tax, regulatory, labor and energy policies. However, it’s essential that you, as an industry leader, add your voice to the effort by participating in the AED Washington Fly-In.

Beyond affecting policy, attending the AED Washington Fly-In gives you important political intelligence to help your business planning and excellent opportunities to network with other equipment industry leaders from across the country. See you in Washington!
