AED’s Biggest Successes From 2018, Involving you, Our Members

This year, AED has added programs, platforms, services and many more offerings to help you, our members, succeed in the best ways possible. As we bid farewell to 2018, I invite you to take a look back at the year with me to see what we introduced, and we’ll also take a look into 2019.

This year, AED added two new platforms so members could have even more access to industry news and the goings-on with AED. CED Magazine launched its new platform,, a storehouse for all of CED Magazine’s previous issues and articles, member news, trending topics and much more! We also introduced members to AED’s new mobile app, AED360, to keep everything AED-related in the palm of your hand, even on the go! This gives you a place to register for events, purchase reports, view news and update your profile, to name just a few features. It is available for you to download in the App Store or Google Play. We hope you’ve found these platforms beneficial in making the most of your AED membership.

We introduced a number of new events, the first being the Women in Construction Equipment Distribution Roundtable, which brought together women in the industry to discuss the issues they currently face. From this, the Women’s Roles in the Construction Equipment Distribution Industry Report was created to discuss the issues that were voiced and possible solutions.

The first annual Executive Conclave took place in Oxon Hill, Maryland, in September. This event encouraged executives in the industry to focus on their business, plan for the future, and network and share ideas with other attendees. Participants gained never-before-seen business intelligence and discovered how to implement change in a changing industry.

The AED Foundation also added two new seminars to its lineup: the Sales Management Seminar and the Supervisory Skills Seminar. The Sales Management Seminar’s first iteration sold out, with attendees learning new and important skills that are necessary to be successful and productive sales leaders. The Supervisory Skills Seminar was for new or established supervisors looking to recharge their skills and to be introduced to strategic management concepts of people analytics and workforce planning.

The AED Foundation also took their efforts on the road, going to AED Foundation-accredited schools to honor the schools’ achievement by hosting accreditation ceremonies. The Foundation also certified over 400 technicians through the certified technician program.

Just a few months ago, we brought on a new public affairs firm, Impact Public Affairs, to represent the association in Canada. We look forward to becoming more engaged with our Canadian members and growing our presence in Canada.

Looking to 2019, we hope you will join us in kicking off the year and celebrating our 100th anniversary at the AED Summit in Orlando, Florida, from February 4 to 7. With an almost-sold-out CONDEX floor, exceptional speakers and education sessions, and plenty of rooms to host hospitality suites, there will be something for everyone in your business to make the most of their time in Orlando.

We will make sure to keep you updated on new things to come in 2019. AED is looking forward to a successful year and to continuing to provide you and your business with the best services and benefits possible to make the most of your membership.
