Meet Dr. William McCleave, the 2010 AED/Lawson Executive Forum moderator
The best doctor is the one who not only gets to the bottom of the patient’s ailments, but also treats, as so many medical advertisements say, the human spirit – and then, ultimately, sends you on your way equipped to battle your symptoms on the home front. Similarly, as host and moderator of the 2010 AED/Lawson Executive Forum, Dr. William McCleave is charged with the task of systematically guiding the conference’s team of experts toward decisive and doable solutions for the equipment distributor’s worst maladies – all with a style that is warm, wise, humorous and genuinely personable.
Executives from dealerships of all sizes are invited to attend the Forum on Sept. 16-17 at Chicago’s Westin O’Hare. As the name suggests, the AED/Lawson Executive Forum is generously sponsored by Lawson, creators of enterprise software for equipment dealers. (http://equipment.lawson.com)
Achieving profitability and the concept of making your own opportunity – in spite of slow market recovery – are the underpinning themes throughout this year’s program, which is developed specifically for dealer principals and senior management. A well known facilitator who specializes in industrial distribution as well as dealer-manufacturer relationships, McCleave will tie Forum’s many presentations and panel discussions into a cohesive collection of takeaways for the dealer’s 2011 business planning.
To date, the agenda consists of:
Economy and credit analysis/forecast with Dr. Eugenio Aleman, senior economist, Wells Fargo
Profit Opportunities for AED Dealers with Dr. Al Bates, Profit Planning Group, the firm that compiled AED’s current Cost of Doing Business Report
Profit Panel featuring Al Bates, Stauff Americas President Peter Anderton, Rex Collins, senior manager of Somerset CPA’s dealership division, and more
Three compliance panels dealing with the health care law, Tier-4 emissions regulations, and important tax changes, present and pending
A public-forum edition of AED’s Industry Round Table, featuring a candid dialogue among dealers and manufacturers about the challenges bombarding their partnership
Election projections with special guest Bernadette Budde, senior vice president, political analysis, BIPAC
Market data and analysis with Eli Lustgarten
A nationally recognized speaker and trainer, Bill McCleave is president of W.R. McCleave & Associates,
a consulting firm specializing in relationship management for industrial distributors, manufacturers and their customers.
“I’ve known Bill since his days as a professor with the distribution program at Texas A&M, and we’re proud to introduce him to AED executives this year, said Toby Mack, AED CEO and president. “He is an expert at drawing out insights from panelists, thinking on his feet with questions and observations, and then tying it all together so his audience leaves with concise and applicable takeaways.”
The selection of McCleave reflects AED’s commitment to continue introducing new perspectives and expertise to its members. A leading expert on integrated supply, McCleave has 25 years of industry experience in executive managerial roles and has served as an advisor and trainer to a wide variety of distributor and industrial clients.
“Bill is absolute pure professionalism and channel know-how,” said Kim Phelan, executive editor and director of programs at AED.
As a former senior manager of a regional distribution company, past president of the Association for High Technology Distribution, and a five-year faculty member of Texas A&M’s Industrial Distribution Program, McCleave brings a comprehensive perspective to supply channel practices and distribution education.
Known for his exhaustive preparation and planning, “the Doctor” comes highly recommended. Phelan is confident that McCleave’s experience, combined with his authentic, thoughtful, and polite Southern manner, are going to enhance the interactive learning at Forum.
“We are certainly going to have about 10 hours of very intelligent and relevant discussions on the Forum stage with Bill McCleave in charge,” Phelan added.
Don’t miss it. Doctor’s orders.
Dealer executives, as well as manufacturing and service firm leaders, are encouraged to arrive Wednesday, Sept. 15 for a welcome reception at the Westin, as well as dinner networking get-togethers on their own. Wells Fargo will provide a reception for attendees Thursday evening the 16th.
