AED Appoints New Senior ExecutiveBob Henderson, former president of a Cummins dealership and past president of AED, joins the association as executive vice president and chief operating officer.AED is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Henderson as the
association's executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective April 1.
In his new role, Henderson will report to AED president and CEO Toby Mack, and be responsible for association operations. Henderson will also serve as executive
director of The AED Foundation, where he will lead and administer the programs and activities of the Foundation.
"AED is indeed fortunate to have found a more-than-capable veteran equipment industry executive to step in and shoulder a great many responsibilities for this organization," said Mack. "As a highly respected and widely known industry executive, Bob is of the highest caliber. He is a most welcome addition to our operation. The AED staff and I are very excited to be working with Bob, and our members will benefit from his new role."Henderson brings more than 35 years of industry experience to AED. rhenderson@aednet.org.Congressman Peter Roskam Visits AED HeadquartersAED members in the Chicago area gathered April 28 in support of Congressman Peter Roskam (R-6-IL), who represents the congressional district in which AED is headquartered.Together with AED senior staff, Illinois equipment distributors attended an AED PAC fundraising luncheon for Roskam, who is a member of the House Financial Services Committee which has jurisdiction over mortgage and banking issues.Three Chicago-area members of AED's board of directors attended the event: AED Vice President Dennis Kruepke of McCann Industries in Addison, Ill.; Director Diane Benck of West Side Tractor Sales Co. in Naperville, Ill.; and Director Mark Harbaugh of Ditch Witch Midwest in Carol Stream, Ill. Also in attendance were Hugh Goulding, executive secretary of the Illinois EDA, Robert Sloan of CE Rents in Elmhurst, Ill. and Joe McKeon of Construction Equipment Guide."Meetings like these triangulate the relationship between our members, AED's Washington office and members of Congress," said AED Vice President of Government Affairs and Washington Counsel Christian Klein. "This type of event is the very centerpiece of AED's election-year activities."The AED ImPACt program encourages local groups to host fundraising luncheons to build relationships with members of Congress. The luncheon served as a round table, of sorts, enabling the congressman to dialog face-to-face with AED distributors about important challenges such as small business health insurance, the impact of the residential downturn on AED members and infrastructure issues, specifically highway funding. As part of the event, AED President Toby Mack reinforced the looming challenges for highway funding, as well as the need to find new sources for funding. He presented Roskam with a $2,500 AED PAC check, and distributors attending the event also made individual contributions to Roskam's re-election campaign.
