Longtime AED member and construction equipment dealership owner Glen E. Gierke, 79 died on April 20 at his home. He was the second generation to run Gierke Robinson Co. and remained active in the company until shortly before his death. His father, E.W.C. Gierke, and Arnold Robinson started the business in 1919. Glen joined the company in 1949 and became its owner in 1964. His son, Glen E. Gierke, Jr., is the current president. Gierke Robinson Co., an AED member since 1929, is based in Davenport, Iowa, and is a construction and industrial equipment dealership. Over the years, the company has shifted from heavy to light construction equipment. The company also undertakes a range of procurement services and performs light assembly for heavy industrial customers. Gierke Robinson has 45 employees and branch locations in Bettendorf, Dubuque, Iowa City and Waterloo, Iowa.
