Metso Minerals recently announced a U.S. facilities investment plan that will significantly improve customer service and grow the company's crushing and screening business. The plan is the result of an in-depth study on how best to match Metso's North American crushing and screening operations to increasing market demand. Key components of the plan include re-opening and expanding Metso's dormant manufacturing facility in Columbia, S.C. to establish a heavy equipment assembly operation for North America. In addition, consolidation at the Columbia location, and the transfer of screen and vibrating equipment manufacture from Gastonai, N.C. to the renovated Columbia facility.

RSC Equipment Rental has appointed two executives to new position as regional vice presidents for its Southern and Great Lakes regions. Brent Kuchynka, will serve as the new regional vice president for the Southern Region, which includes the Texas Gulf Coast area, Louisiana and Mississippi. John Wacker is the new regional vice president for the Great Lakes Region, which includes Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indian, Western Ohio, and most of the Kentucky and Tennessee.

For the past three years, Kuchynka has led RSC's operations in Canada and successfully shifted the region's focus to emphasize large industrial accounts in order to offset the significant winter downturn in the construction industry. Kuchynka joined RSC as part of the company's acquisition of Arizona-based Valley Rentals in 1996.

Wacker has been with RSC since 1996 as a general manager, area manager, district sales manager and district operations manager. Prior to joining RSC, he owned and operated an equipment rental and sales business.

P&H MinePro Services has made several new appointments. Grant Harrison has been named director of human resources - Australasia. He will provide human resource support to both P&H Mining Equipment and Joy Mining Machinery in the Australasian region.

As general manager, sales, marketing and service support, Steve Lennard will now be responsible for providing sales and proposal support for life cycle management strategies and growth in new equipment and aftermarket sales.

The new general manager of P&H MinePro Services Chile is Alejandro Leon. He will be responsible for the growth and profitability of MinePro Chile, as well as commercial and operational aspects of the company.

Antonio Carlos Lopes is MinePro Services - Brazil's new aftermarket sales manager. He brings six years experience in the mining industry and has held various managerial and technical positions.

Jeff Murdock has been named general manager southeast region for P&H MinePro - Australasia. He will assume operational responsibility for the region and continue to drive the Life Cycle Management strategy with customers.

P&H MinePro Service's International and Global Business Development's new Controller is Tom Stewart. He will work with regional general managers and their staffs to support consolidated financial reporting for the P&H MinePro Services International region.

Pascual Viega has been appointed the director and general advisor to the general manager for P&H MinePro Chile. He will be responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships to insure the company's strategic planning properly reflects customer needs.

Wayne Feasby has been appointed vice president, finance for P&H Mining Equipment. He will be responsible for the global financial function of the company.

Finally, Glen Zielinski has been appointed regional manager of P&H MinePro Services - Southeast Region, U.S. He will be responsible for safety leadership, daily management and profitability.

P&H Mining Equipment manufactures electric rope shovels, rotary blasthole drills and walking draglines.

Bill Jensen has been appointed factory service technician for Peterson. He will be responsible for supporting Peterson's customers in the Pacific Northwest. He brings with him more than 25 years experience working in the equipment service industry.

Peterson specializes in the development and sales of delivery and processing equipment that turns low grade organic materials into high value products.

Holt Cat has made several new appointments. Mark Engels has been named Irving, Texas, service manager. He will oversee daily operations of the Irving Service Department, where he will be responsible for managing all aspects of work performed in the service area. He has more than 23 years of industry experience.

Rudy Robles has been named San Antonio parts warehouse supervisor. He will oversee daily operations of shipping, receiving and inventory within the parts department.

In addition, Danielle Bonham has been named rental sales representative for the Grand Prairie area. She will promote the diverse line of Cat and allied rental products for the area. She previously served as the sales coordinator for the Irving area.

Hold Cat sells, rents and services Caterpillar machines, engines and generator sets in a 118-county Texas territory spanning from the Red River to the Rio Grande.

ASC Construction Equipment recently announced new locations, plans for additional facilities and other accomplishments to expand customer support coverage. ASC recently opened branches in Greenville, S.C. and Huntsville, Ala. "At the Huntsville location, ASC renovated and expanded to a 15,000-square-foot facility. In addition, in 2005 ASC added 32 new service trucks; increased parts inventory; hired 25 new service technicians; and upgraded the computer system. In 2006, ASC plans to continue hiring, further improve in spare parts availability and expand training and additional branch locations.

ASC, based in Charlotte, N.C., is a Volvo construction equipment dealer.

Felco Industries of Missoula, Montana has hired Christine Johnson as marketing director. Felco Industries custom manufactures excavator and backhoe attachments for the utility construction industry across North America.
