Cummings, McGowan & West (CMW), a concrete, asphalt, readymix and aggregate equipment dealer based in St. Louis, Mo., recently reached its 50th Anniversary. The company celebrated its success with an event January 14 at the Kemp Auto Museum in St. Louis for current and past employees, customers and friends. Ingersoll Rand representatives Steve Blackwelder and Kent Marshall presented CMW with an award recognizing the company's "dedication, service and support."
The company was started in 1956 by J.L. Cummings, Thomas McGowan Jr., Victor West and Ethel Klein on I-170 and Olive Blvd., down the street from the company's current location. Larry Glynn, CMW's president, attributes much of the company's 50-year success to strong customer service.
"The object is not to be everything to everyone, but to be good at what we do," says Glynn.
CMW has branches in Bloomington, Ill. and Kansas City, and the company represents a number of manufacturers, including Blaw Knox, Ingersoll Rand, Mauldin, Cedarapids and Gorman-Rupp.
